4th XJTLU-Cup Sports Tournament

"Go, go!" "Bravo!" "So strong!" "It's in! It's in! The ball is in!"

Cheers and shouts echoed through the sports stadium and athletic fields of Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, where student athletes from various universities, both Chinese and international, were striving with all their might.

To promote friendship among Sino-foreign cooperative universities and strengthen the development of intercollegiate sports culture, the fourth "XIPU Cup" Sino-Foreign Sports League was held from April 15th to 16th. The event was jointly organized by the XJTLU Sports Centre, Student Club Support Centre, the Club Union, and XJTLU sports clubs. This league brought together 450 athletes from Duke Kunshan University, New York University Shanghai, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, Wenzhou-Kean University, and Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. Through competition and cooperation, they forged friendships and progressed together.

After the match, Felipe Silvestre from Duke Kunshan University tightly embraced his teammates. "This league serves as a group bond for international students. Even though we come from different regions and have different native languages, we share the same hobbies and can enjoy the fun of sports together!"

Adib El Ounani and Dhruv Vaishnav from New York University Shanghai expressed their hopes for the future of the "XIPU Cup" league: "We hope that games can be held regularly to bring everyone together in the future, and we also hope that more university athletes can join in."

Swift saves and sharp spikes! Inside the volleyball court, two teams were engaged in an intense match. The athletes did their best to dig, dive, and set the ball, their moving figures accompanied by high jumps and powerful attacks, earning cheers and applause from the audience.

Jack Nyi Hun from Duke Kunshan University said, "In volleyball, individual skills and teamwork are equally important. Individual skills are the cornerstone of teamwork. Both the individual performances and team coordination of our team were quite good this time!"

On the evening of April 15th, all participating teams gathered at the XJTLU basketball stadium to attend the league's evening gala. Professor Chao Qiuling (pictured below), Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of XJTLU, extended a warm greeting on behalf of the university to all athletes, coaches, referees, teachers, students, and guests present. She emphasized the importance of promoting sports and spreading the spirit of sportsmanship in the construction of university campus culture.
