There is no limit on the number of teams for the Teachers-Students Team Tournament of Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, and each team should have 8 to 10 participants. The team tournament adopts a best-of-five system. The five games are played in the following order: mixed doubles, men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, and mixed doubles. Male players in each team are not allowed to participate in multiple events. Female players who are not from the school team can participate in multiple events. And each player can only participate in one mixed doubles match. There should be no more than 2 members (including current and retired members) from the school team in each team, and there can only be one game in the five games of each match where school team members participate.

This competition consists of three stages. The first stage is the qualifying round, which adopts a best-of-three system with an 11-point format and no overscoring. The second stage is the group stage, which is a best-of-three system with a 15-point format and no overscoring. The third stage is the knockout round, and in the knockout stage, it is a best-of-three system with a 21-point format, and the scoring can be extended up to 30 points.
