2017 XJTLU Fresher’s Fair was held in Central Building on August 31. Thousands of freshmen, together with over 150 clubs and organizations attended this grand event.
Brochure and souvenirs were well prepared beforehand and distributed by club members to new students. In the heat of this grand recruitment, students were stuck in crowds. Club members elaborately explained information about their clubs, communicating and trying to solve any confusion new students had.
Freshmen remained at their favored stalls, filling out application forms. A group of students were found queuing up in front of the stall of Peer Tutoring Club, waiting to hand in their forms. ”Probably most students are rather academic”, said a student waiting in the line.
The list of all clubs and the E-Map had already been released in advance, and many students had had their preferred clubs or organizations before coming to Fresher’s Fair. “I prefer to be engaged in community service. I have the intention to join A-design as well”, said a student remaining at the stand of Young Volunteer Association.
There were 7 categories sitting on the ground floor: Organization, Sport Team, Sport, Art, Community Service, Academic and Recreational. All 135 stalls were well decorated. Features of each club were shown from the decoration. Sports facilities were put into use in Sport section; sport teams displayed the medals and cups they once won; community service clubs promoted public benefit in a relaxing style. Whereas club leaders had to make out plans at least a week in advance.
Outdoor stalls were set up outside Central Building, which allowed new students to actually enjoy outdoor activities.
Club is a crucial factor in displaying a school’s vitality and creativity. This year’s Fresher’s Fair is an actual success, indicating a bright future of all XJTLU clubs and organizations.
