Hello everyone,
Our club is planning to hold the first seminar of this semester after the National Day holiday, and the theme of the seminar is "International Relations in the Context of War."
In today's world, we are living in the most peaceful century humanity has seen in thousands of years. However, elements of violence have never disappeared from the structure of domestic and international politics. Instead, they remain hidden in the deepest corners of every nation's political toolkit as the final means of power, culture, and strategy. The relative global peace of the past century has shaped a seemingly calm surface, but when we gaze into the abyss of the sea, we can still feel the stubborn turbulence caused by the seemingly forsaken forces of barbarism, stretching their tentacles towards the surface.
Occasionally, when we have become accustomed to the waves on the surface, we may, in an unguarded moment, be pulled into the vortex. In Ukraine, in Palestine, in Yemen, and in the fragile regions of the civilized world, war and violence continue to dominate the destinies of peoples and individuals, proclaiming their presence to the international community—they have never left, their specters haunt every corner of the world, waiting for their moment.
If we look back at history, we will find that war has directly contributed to every step in the formation of modern states and the modern international system. Regardless of how you perceive or understand war, it is undeniable that war plays a significant and constitutive role in international relations, both today, yesterday, and in the future. The nation-states after the Thirty Years' War, the Vienna system after Napoleon, the United Nations after World War II... Now, we sincerely invite you to join the JOURNET Society's seminar
