On 18:30,27 September, in a rainy day, XJLTU Welcome Party which aims at welcoming newcomers in 2017 was held in Dushuhu Grand Theater. The Welcome Party which lasted about 4 hours was held by Arts Department in Students Union in XJTLU, and various clubs and organizations joined the performance. Although the weather was not unfavorable, the auditorium was still full of people. The warm applauses inside with the sound of rain liked the symphony orchestra.
There were several highlights in this Welcome Party. For example, the sand painting presentation of the painting calligraphy troupe was quite impressive. It is a kind of delicate painting that only made by hand with no more materials. Especially when the drawer painted the Central Building in XJTLU in the end, it fired up the audience. With the introduction of the minister of painting calligraphy troupe named Zhong Fangjian, this sand painting is the strength of their club and more innovative forms are exploring in order to give the audience a better visual enjoyment.
Another one is the Drama Marriage struggle which was presented by the Drama Troupe. Although the actors are all newcomers, comparing to professional actors, their acting skills also made the audience feel immersive. Learning about the details from the minister of Drama Troupe whose name is Qiu Tian, the reason for choosing “marriage” as a topic was in order to let the students have a basic impression of marriage. Marriage is something that of vital in our life and university students are in the process heading to the society. So the performance not only gave them an opportunity to learn about a real marriage, but also gave them an appropriate approach to show their talents in acting and performing.
Welcome Party is a traditional activity in XJTLU. The minister of Arts Department whose name is Ji Xingyu illustrated that, the main purpose is to generate the sense of belonging. By performing on the stage, not only do the newcomers could have fun, but also it is a convenient way for them to have deep impressions of various clubs. That is also an approach for the clubs to integrate into the students. As a result, it is easier for the newcomers to find their own sense of presence and belonging.
