On the tenth of April, the kick-off of "Win in XJTLU Leadership Training Season14&15" starts at CB G13W. This activity is supported by Student Organization Supporting Centre and organized by J&R Leadership Association. All the participants who are leaders of several clubs and organizations become aware of the significance of leadership and teamwork after this kick-off. Besides, at the end of the kick off, all the participants are successfully divided into 10 groups and each group has a leader.
The aim of "Win X" is to improve the quality of activities held by clubs and organizations via improving personal abilities of their leaders. Started in 2013, "Win X" has successfully run 13 seasons. More than 100 student clubs and organizations, 600 students have been involved. Today, Season 14 and Season 15 come. Among all the 10 groups, a half of them participate in S14 while the other half take part in S15.
Different from the boring stereotype people may have about kick-off activities, the kick-off of "Win X" encourages full participation. All the participants are arranged to play a transporting-balloons game, in which they could know more about each other and comprehend the significance of putting aside minor differences when cooperating.
S14: Stories of XJTLUers
In order to give some inspirations to participants about what to do in this season, the speaker asks three questions about "XJTLUers", "How to identify XJTLUers?" "What we achieve in XJTLU?" and "Who we will be in the future?". Many students share their answers about these questions.
Afterwards, the speaker claims what participants need to show in S14. Personal performance in their teams, comparison between different XJTLUers and participants' reflection of their daily life matter a lot in this season. As for the rules of evaluation, "Team Work" occupies forty per cent while "Content of Projects" and "Online election results" occupy thirty per cent respectively.
S15: Call-Up for Summer Social Practice
The speaker also asks three questions for those who will attend this season to inspire them, "What is Social Practice?" "Why we need attend?" and "How we make it?". The five groups attending this season should promote the Social Practice Project to all the students in XJTLU and then seek for followers. The followers they select will then make their own teams. With regard to the evaluation parts, quality of these 5 groups’ team work occupies forty per cent while the number of followers and passing rate of the followers each occupies thirty per cent.
At the end of the kick-off, every group finishes choosing their group leaders and making a rough plan for their recent work within a ten-minutes group discussion. Their advisors also answer questions to help them fully understand "Win X".
After the activity, the host says: "I hope that all the participants could take this activity seriously and finally comprehend the definition of 'leadership' and 'teamwork'."
